Our Sins Page 7

I turn towards Amy, she’s shaking her head sending a text. Emilio looks like he’s just came in his pants and he’s still standing there with his mouth gaping in response. I snap my fingers getting his attention. “Can we please just start with the Champagne?” I offer an apologetic smile.

  “Umm, yes ma’am. Miss?”

  “Hayes.” I smile.

  “Yes, ma’am.”

As he walks out of the room, I bend down grabbing my bag that I’d dropped when we’d entered. “I’m gonna look around for my room.”

“Over there.” Amy points in the direction Nat had been standing without looking up from her phone. Amy’s been overtly distracted lately. I’ve asked what she’s up to, but it’s always just some simple shrug or ‘nothing’ in response.

Walking in the direction of the hallway I find the room I see ahead is empty. Knowing Nat had already found hers, I drop my bag on the floor and fall to the bed. I’m so sleepy and beyond ready for bed at this point. I hear Pink bounce off the walls through the speaker system of the five star hotel suite and smile closing my eyes.

Leaving Evan was difficult, but I had no idea what was about to happen in the light of innocence among friends.

My mind has been circling the conversation Evan and I had before I left. A baby. Wow, I’m not sure how to truly feel about that. I feel excitement in my belly, but what do I know about being a mother? I’m young and very inexperienced with life in general. After Addie passed away, I shut down. My life has just recently began so I’m at a loss to the feeling I’m really having about it.

We’re in the Stratus Bar. It’s in the top of the tallest building in Vegas apparently. I have no idea what the hell I’m talking about, pretty much just repeating what Amy and Nat had said about it. Amy’s on the dance floor and Nat’s somewhere doing something, I guess. I was dancing with Amy until I felt nauseas from the alcohol and heat combination. I excused myself and headed to the table. I’m leaning on it peering out to the crowed watching these crazy ass people act a fool, my best friends being their leaders. Yes, I’m smiling because I admire their free spirits. I wish I could act like that; just let it go and be me, but I can’t. I haven’t been able to do that since Addie.

“Hey, I guess they haven’t embarrassed you yet? Or have they?” I hear from behind me. I turn on my stool and see the tall guy from the elevator.

I shake my head. “I’m sure it’s only moments away.” I smile.

“May I?” he asks gesturing to the stool next to me. “Sure,” I offer extending my hand.

  “When’s the wedding?”

“Tomorrow.” I smile again, I just want this night to go away.

“Wow, you ready to take that walk with a hangover?”

“Nah, I know the secret,” I answer winking my long lashes at him.

“Oh?” His forehead lifts in question.

“Water. Drink water in between drinks. It keeps you hydrated.” I’m speaking the words, but my eyes are watching the scene unfolding around our table. My protectors are on sight and circling in. They aren’t saying anything or intervening, but they’re only inches away. I ignore them because I don’t want to freak this poor guy out. When he doesn’t seem to notice, I speak. “So, Kale, tell me, where are you from?” A darkness moves to his eyes as he answers.

  “Here,” is all he says.

“Oh?” I sip on my blue martini. “What do you do for a living?” I ask curiously. My eyes move behind Kale nonchalantly.

A light laugh slips from his lips. “A little of this and that. If you don’t mind my asking.” He pauses to gauge my reaction. “The tall woman you’re with. Does she have a boyfriend or husband?”

“No.” I smile. She and Michael have something, but she’ll never admit it. She’s the strongest woman I’ve ever known. I think she prefers to be independent. I respect that.

Before we can continue our conversation he’s ripped up from the table. I’m shoved forward, my martini glass tumbling from my hand. “What the-?” I turn seeing Evan gripping this guy’s throat. I’ve seen a lot of shit, but I’ve never seen Evan like this. They’re standing tall, Evan a little taller with his neck veins pulsing out of his skin. His face beat red. I’m frozen, I don’t know what to do.

“Don’t ever come near her.” His growling is so intense. His face is the dark color of crimson. I’ve never seen Evan like this. Ever.

“What’s up, E?” Natalia approaches, but that’s not all that’s going down. When I look up, I see that everyone in the club is closing in on us. The room is getting small by the second and I can’t breathe. “Get her the fuck out of here,” he growls. I feel hands all over me and I’m pissed.

“What are you doing? He didn’t hurt me.”

“Get the fuck out!” His gaze doesn’t change from the poor guy in his clutches and no one’s doing anything to help him.

“Let me go. He wasn’t doing anything.” I snap at the people that’re trying to carry me away. I find Brent and threaten him with my eyes, but he isn’t affected.

“Sorry, Abby, he’s the boss.” I’m pulled through the crowed against my will. I find myself on an elevator with the two men that’re going to be picking up their balls in a minute. “What. The. Hell. Just. Happened?” I demand adjusting my dress. Their eyes turn to each other questioning that very thing themselves, but don’t respond. We ride the elevator down and every time it stops to pick someone up the assholes tell the people to find another way down or wait for the next elevator. I’m fuming in the corner that I’m standing in. A black limousine is waiting on the curb when we walk out of the building.

“Yes, sir.” I hear Brent say on his mic.

“Can someone please tell me what the hell’s going on?” I ask feeling the vibration from my pone. Both of them hold their eyes on me but don’t respond. “I don’t need to be swept away from my own bachelorette party.” I sneer, I haven’t even begun to get pissed until I remember Evan yelling at me to “Get the fuck out.” Who the hell does he think he is? He’s never spoken to me like that before and damn well better not think just because were getting married he can start now. The door swings open and Evan slides in sitting next to Skits. He doesn’t even look at me, making me feel like a child. “Where are the girls?” I ask wanting to get out of this car, town, state. You name it, I want out. He just glares at me. “Evan, what happened?”

“Get out.” I jump as he growls in the direction of the two in the car with us. They quickly step out, and fear pricks my skin the second I turn to his burning eyes.

Once they are gone Evan grabs me into his arms leaning his head on mine. “You shouldn’t have come here.” This tone is one I’ve never heard from him. Desperate, hurt, and angry are just a few of the emotions that resonates through the car.

“Evan, I…” My whispers are interrupted when he grips my neck. Warm hands and lust take over the cold air that’s been circling the car leaving me tingle inside. I’ve only been away from him for a few hours and it already feels like days.

“I’m going to tell you this one time, Abby. Be careful who you choose to trust.” He tilts my back. “If you had any idea who it was you allowed to get close to you.” He finishes leaving me clueless as to what the hell he’s talking about.

“I was at a bar with a lot of people, Evan. What’s the big deal? Besides, this is my bachelorette night remember? See you on the isle and all that.” His head drops, leaving me to question his thoughts.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to mess that up.” His hands clench, his brows furrow as he inhales a breath.

“Why are you here?” I hear the apology in his voice, but I need to know what he’s hiding. Knowing Evan as well as I do, I know it’s something.

Evan glares out of the dark window to the lights of the city. “I missed you.” His head falls again then lifting his eyes to mine, he says. “I’m a fucking mess when you’re not around. I can’t breathe, I can’t eat, and I definitely can’t sleep.” I watch as the colors on the limo lights glow ag
ainst his strong jaw line.

“I feel empty.” His eyes raise to mine in question. “I feel empty, lost, I have no purpose when we’re apart.” His eyes light up. He thinks he’s the only one that desires nothing more than to be in my presence, but I feel the exact same way. “You’re everything to me, Evan.” He always has been, even when I didn’t know it myself.

When the last word leaves my lips he grabs my face violently pulling me into him, his mouth taking mine. The tip of his tongue seeks me deeply. When Evan and I are close like this, all other worries disappear. Being pulled into bliss with the man that I love can do that… leave every other worry behind. “I need you.” My eyes open as he speaks, hearing his voice crack. The sound of his admission is not unnoticed. He’s so different tonight. Something’s wrong, off with him, but I also know he isn’t going to tell me what it is. Evan prefers I not worry about things I cannot change. He tells me that’s his job.

“Don’t take your birth control tomorrow.” He leans into my ear gripping me tighter than before. “Please.” The breath he’s holding onto is released when I speak.

“Okay,” I told him I’d think about it. I want everything with him. I’m scared, but I want it, too. His hand holds my hair in a loving way and his cheek rests against mine. He’s happy and so am I.

Moments later our need for each other is in full force. My dress is being lifted in a carnal pursuit for the hot wet finish line. My hands shake as I fumble my way through the barrier of slacks and boxers. When I feel his smooth, hard dick, I know I want it more now than ever. Slipping my panties to the side I lift my butt off of his legs and guide him in. I’m wet, I feel it on my fingers. My fingers slide across my clit as he pushes deep inside. His hands grip my hips forcing me down slowly setting him into me completely.

I cry out from the intrusion that’s rocking my world. He’s stretching me. I can feel the burn into my core. My nipples harden, and I need his mouth on them. They’re bouncing up and down smacking his chest fast and hard mocking our movements. I look up seeing his eyes hard on me watching my every facial expression that I no doubt have from this intense moment. I can’t remember ever wanting him more than I do right now. My hands reach for his hair griping his head back to the top of the seat. My hand trembles from his hair to his jaw and down over his Adams apple. His breathing is labored, coming only in hard heated waves. I can see the affect I’m having on him. My hands crawl upward meeting his dark hair again and I lean in allowing my wet lips to attack his. Evan complies with his own need.

“I love you so much, Evan.” I breathe against his mouth feeling sweat bead on our bodies. It’s raw carnage, and nothing breaks the contact we make, not even the movement of the car that’s still in motion.

I feel complete and full with Evan inside of me. His eyes lock on mine as he moves in closer, everything disappears with his touch to my skin and it’s then I feel my orgasm rise. I moan with the need his throbbing dick is causing inside of me. “You don’t come until I tell you to, Abigale.” He must feel me contract around him. I’m falling into the circle of lights I see behind my lids.

I’m close. Very close as I raise up and the head of his dick meets my folds, threatening to escape. Just as he looks at me with fire in his eyes questioning my actions, I push down feeling electrical waves of pleasure fighting to escape. I hold on to every single one of them waiting until their light is so bright I combust.

“Abigale… You. Are amazing.” He fights for every word leaving his mouth. Again with my first name. “So close… With me. Come with me.” Kinda hot the way he dominates it, though. Different and erotic. He tightens his embrace and slams my body down onto him. I feel him exceed the limits. I scream loudly knowing our driver has probably just been a witness to the scene in the back. “Now,” he growls. And I do. I come in a forceful blow writhing above him. My screams aren’t hiding from anyone or anything now.

I grip his hair encouraging him to suck my nipple and he does. “Harder,” I demand. “Don’t sto-… Ah God, Evan, fuck me harder!” He complies, grinding me onto his pulsing cock. His lips part, eager to take me into his mouth as he growls beneath me.

“Shit, I can’t hold it. Please. I’m coming, I’m coming.” A warm stream shoots hard inside me with the first bite of my flesh stilling me, but I push against his hold, rubbing my clit against him causing my orgasm to explode in bright colors from my bottom through my core.

When the orgasm dissipates, I fall against his chest in a race for my breath. His heart is pounding so hard and fast, echoing in my ear. I want him close always. Evan’s hand combs throw my dark locks playing with the curls that bounce as they fall.

“I love you,” his words are quiet. My eyes lift to his seeing he’s in deep thought. The limo lights continue to bounce off of his skin and reveal dark eyes lost somewhere.

“Where are you?” I ask knowing that it can take very little for Evan to distance himself in a way not seen by someone on the outside. I’ve learned that when something’s bothering him he internalizes it. It drives me crazy. I want to be a place he feels he can release his worry.

His breath is steady and calm, but I know there’s something wrong. “With you angel.” He leans over kissing my forehead. “I’m right here with you, always.”

I feel safe and warm when he’s close. Trust wraps itself around me like ribbon through my soul.

I left Abby in the hands of her security team after we shared what I hope will be the beginning of our future, a baby. I wanted like hell to take her home, but I knew I wasn’t going home. My bachelor night is consisting of a business meeting with my father. Thomas Carter self-made billionaire and an elite member of the Senate.

I’m walking through the door of the Sabotage hotel bar. Thomas is sitting at the table in the back. I wouldn’t have known that, but this isn’t the first time I’ve met him here for one of our chats. My approach isn’t without hesitation.

“Evan, so good to see you, son.” Thomas stands, reaching out for my hand.

“Thomas.” I nod taking his hand. I have to play nice.

“Evan, dad or father, I insist.” He unbuttons his suite jacket and takes a seat at the round table. His security team lingering near us.

  “Father,” I grunt.

“So, tell me what’s been going on in your life these last few weeks.

“Same ole same ole. Nothing you should concern yourself with.” I feign innocence.

“Oh don’t be so modest. But I will say that I’m a little hurt that you didn’t think to mention that you were marrying Miss Hayes.” He waves the waitress over for another brandy, his eyes never faltering from mine.

“Why do you pretend to care? You’ve never been any kind of a father figure to me. I’m your pawn, Thomas, that’s all I’ll ever be in your sick and twisted world.”

The waitress arrives and ask me what I’d like. Like my father, I also request a brandy and she leaves for our drinks. My father lights up a cigar and relaxes in his seat. I’m surprised he’s so chill tonight.

“I hear you had a bit of a… disagreement with Kale McCormick.” He puffs on the expensive tobacco.

I’d ask how he knows this shit, but I’m already aware of the answer. He has me followed, and his games are getting on my fucking nerves.

The waitress sets the amber drink on the table in front of me. I pick it up hesitating for a long moment then slam the drink back, feeling the burn descend my throat. “Another,” I insist waving to the waitress. “What’s it to you?”

“Evan, my boy, perhaps it’s time you took care of old enemies.”

“Again, why do you care?” I growl.

“Very well.” He sips his drink. “I brought you here tonight because I’d like to come to your wedding.” Is he serious?

“The games you play are bullshit, Thomas.”

“Why won’t you let me in? Do you think I’m going to hurt Abigale? Maybe Natalia? Which one are you more worried about losing?

“Is this a joke? Do you remember
when I went to D.C. several months ago? You gave me a job knowing you were asking me to kill my sister, your daughter. What kind of sick freak does that shit?”

“One that wants to protect his son.”

A sound rumbles through my throat as the waitress returns with yet another drink. I pick up the glass swirling the liquid around. “What’s Nat going to do to me? She’s the only family that I have.”

He nods. “Let’s just say there was someone who misinformed me about her. I’ve been informed differently since.”

“Seriously? You just have people killed because you’re informed? Life isn’t a fucking joke, Thomas. Besides she’s likely to kill you herself and I can’t say that I’ll stop her if she tries.” I lean back into the wooden chair.

“Evan, I know that you think I’m a monster.” He stops mid-sentence when one of his security approaches him whispering into his ear. He waves him on. “Where was I?”

“You’re a monster,” I answer. His eyes show he’s not amused. Fuck him.

“I’m not the monster you think I am.”

“Okay, tell me who told you she was going to hurt me then.”

“Miss Covington,” he answers glaring at me over his glass. “She came to me one night stating that Natalia was in with the cartel.” He shrugs. “She informed me of the plan she had for you all along. She was sure that Natalia had gotten into your head telling you that she was your sister all the while killing the real Natalia and taking her place. I’ve found out since that Monica was as crazy as they come. But I also received undeniable proof that Natalia is in fact who she says she is.”
